Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Icing

Vanilla Cake

  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp. Baking powder
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla

Sift all dry ingredients together in a medium bowl. In another bowl mix the melted butter, egg, milk, and vanilla together and them add to the dry ingredients. Beat well for two minutes with beater. Pour into two 9 inch greased and floured pans and bake for thirty minutes at 350. Remove from oven and cool on rack for 10 minutes and then flip over and remove from pans and cool completely.

Chocolate Icing

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate
  • 2 tbs. Heavy cream
  • 1 box confectionary sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
